Mosquitoes love rain! Mosquito pressure can be impacted significantly by rainfall. Often times after a significant rain event, there is an increase in mosquito activity, especially with floodwater mosquitoes. Mosquitoes need standing, stagnant water for the female to lay her eggs. So after it rains, there are ample prime locations for the female to lay her eggs in low spots in a yard , puddles, ditches, containers, thick foliage, etc. Any location that has standing water could be an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. Mosquitoes start to hatch at incredibly fast rates as the lifecycle of a mosquito is typically from egg to a biting adult in around 4-7 days.

"Started with Mosquito Squad in June. We saw a slight reduction in activity, but didn't feel it was enough to justify continuing the service. With that said, we started treatment late during a summer that had significantly above average rainfall. We will most likely resume service earlier next year.
